Next Generation B.V. Research Center and Lab

Ongoing Projects

Co-funded by the Dutch Government Department of Economics, SENTER, Next Generation B.V. opened its proprietary research center and lab in March 2005. The facilities will facilitate applications research in the use of photo luminescent pigments. Partnerships with clients’ technology groups have yielded success in the following applications.

Liquid Light ®

Next Generation B.V has developed a liquid luminescent light and is currently jointly commercializing in partnership with a leading industrial company. The liquid light can store natural or artificial light and heat and can release this light and heat in a controlled manner. NLP® or other luminescent pigments are undergoing testing for endurance under various environments. Target applications will be light and heat harvesting for glass houses. The second phase of ongoing luminescent light research will be to match the light on the light frequencies used by plants. Liquid Light applications with UV light corrections have been patented

Interlayer foil on glass or polycarbonate

Next Generation B.V. has developed in close cooperation with a plastics manufacturer a foil that can be used on glass, providing stability. This partnership has also developed a matte effect with a cream milky white light similar to white edge. The foil applications can be used on architectural flat glass, both interior and exterior. The foil applications can be also incorporated onto interior glass objects for decoration purposes. There are also numerous safety device applications possible.

Enhancing brightness of photoluminescent pigment

Next Generation B.V. has partnered with a technology research center in the Netherlands to enhance brightness and adaptability characteristics of NLP® pigments. These enhancements have increased brightness and improved adaptability for multiple applications and production processes.

Commercialisation and Innovation

Next Generation B.V.s Research tests and seeks to expand the substrates and applications methods with NLP®. To date, several independent product and application patents have been filed. With assistance and support from a Dutch government Technology Starters program, Next Generation B.V. has gained access to additional independent research facilities and staff.
